Description

This image shows Professor William Dewel, a member of the Department of Biology, showing Chancellor Herbert Walter Wey (1969-1979) an electron microscope at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in February 1975. The Department of Biology aimed to provide cultural background in life sciences, prepare biology teachers, and train biologists, and included courses on ecology, zoology, and botany. It is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and maintains a greenhouse, a herbarium, and several land tracts located on and off campus.
