Description
This image shows a biology class being taught by Professor Bill Carpenter at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1977. Dr. Carpenter can be seen writing notes on an overhead projector, and students can be seen sitting in the foreground. The Department of Biology aimed to provide cultural background in life sciences, prepare biology teachers, and train biologists. It is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences and maintains a greenhouse, a herbarium, and several land tracts located on and off campus.
