Description

This image shows C. D. Spangler, president of the University of North Carolina system from 1986 to 1997, at the 1989 Conference on Trusteeship held at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Attendees included the Board of Governors, trustees and chancellors from the 16 universities within the University of North Carolina System. Guest speakers included Paul Fulton, president of the Sara Lee Corporation, and University of California President Emeritus Clark Kerr. It was held in the Broyhill Inn and Conference Center, built 1972.
