Description

This image shows an environmental protest in the 1970s at Appalachian State University (1967-current) and Boone, NC, by Appalachian State students. A line of cars bearing signs promoting environmental awareness on the outside are seen driving down Rivers Street. A van is in the front with a sign reading, "Pollution is hazardous to your health." Students can be seen on bicycles on the shoulder. The students were protesting the amount of pollution and garbage in the campus and town in general. Justice Hall, built 1952, is visible in the background.
