This image shows two men at the celebration following the inauguration of Dr. Herbert Walter Wey as president of Appalachian State University (1967-current) in 1969. Dwight Quinn stands on the right. Quinn was a legislator in the North Carolina Legislature and member of the Appalachian State Board of Trustees. He played a prominent role in Appalachian State achieving university status, and received an honorary doctor of laws degree from Appalachian State in 1978. Herbert Walter Wey served as president/chancellor from 1969 to 1979. Standing on the left is Mr. Bob Allen, Director of Public Affairs.
