Description

This image shows the dedication of the university baseball field as Red Lackey Field on April 29, 1987 at Appalachian State University (1967-current). The field was originally located at the current location of Durham Park at the southeast corner of campus, before being moved west of Kidd Brewer Stadium. Red Lackey Field was named for E. G. Lackey, who graduated from Appalachian State in 1937, and served on the Board of Trustees for eighteen years. Lackey is visible standing in the center of the image, shaking hands with baseball coach Jim Morris, standing on the right is Jane Lackey, wife of E.G. Lackey.
