Women's Athletic Association, 1958, basketball team

This image shows the Women's Basketball Team for 1957-58 at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Members can be seen sitting in a row in one of the campus gyms. The basketball team was part of the Women's Athletic Association, a group formed of women who were physical education majors interested in extracurricular activities related to physical and health education. Association activities included games and programs emphasizing physical education and exercise, such as volleyball, softball, speedball, soccer, and basketball, and various intramural programs including badminton, tennis, archery, and ping-pong. This image appears in the 1958 Rhododendron (p. 155).
