Title

Faculty Apartments, 1953

Description

This image shows the newly renovated southern entrance to the Faculty Apartments at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). The building was originally constructed in 1953, and replaced the previous Faculty Apartments building, which was then renamed North Hall. Faculty Apartments provided thirty-three efficiency apartments for faculty. It was converted in 1981 into a co-educational residence hall for honors students and renamed Coffey Residence Hall. The sign in front of the building reads: "Faculty Apartments A Pennell and Haigler Inc, General Contractors, Lenoir NC, Coffey & Olson, Architects, Lenior, NC."
