Art, weaving, circa 1955, photo 1

This image shows a loom used to teach weaving in the Art Department at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). The Art Department included courses in design that included textile design, as well as courses for Home Economics majors on applied design and decorative design. The Home Economics Department also included courses on textiles, tailoring and advanced clothing construction, advanced dressmaking, and advanced textiles.
