Description

This image shows three students in the Mathematics Department observing a man working a linotype machine at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). The Department of Mathematics and Physics included not only math courses, but courses on photography, heat and sound, electricity, magnetism, household physics, mechanics, and physics. Many hands-on physics and mechanical courses also included additional laboratory sessions. This image was taken in the mid-1950s.
