This image shows two commencement speakers at the commencement ceremony at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), circa 1965. Standing on the left is Appalachian State President William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969). Both speakers are in academic dress, and other students can be seen in the background. Commencement was held in the Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955, until 1968.
