Title

Assembly, Square Dance, circa 1955

Description

This image shows a group of square dancers performing a dance in a circle on stage in an auditorium at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) during the mid-1950s. The dance includes seventeen women and one man. The auditorium was possibly the one at Appalachian High School (1938-1965), housed in Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1938. An audience can be seen sitting on the right of the image, and part of the band can be seen sitting with instruments at the base of the stage. Audience members hold books containing musical scores open in their laps.
