This image shows student Jean Rankin sitting a table, taking notes from a book at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on February 3, 1959. The image was taken in D. D. Dougherty Library, built 1935, and books line the walls in the background. Jean Rankin was a sophomore in 1958-59, and was elected the Homecoming queen for 1958. Rankin was a business education major and program chairman of the Appalachian State chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America, formerly known as the Business Club.
