Title

Rhododendron, 1958, "The Need for Recognition," photo 2

Description

This image shows a student in graduation dress being handed a degree from another man in graduation dress on a stage at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). A similar image was published in the 1958 Rhododendron (p. 10), with the title, "The Need for Recognition." It was part of an introductory series of images, reading, "A. S. T. C. is more than a school... it is a state of mind, the search for knowledge, the desire for gaiety, the determination to win, the will to serve, the need for recognition, and a time for humility." The Rhododendron was the student produced yearbook for Appalachian State since 1922 to 1992, and 2005 to 2006, when it ceased publication.
