This image shows Dr. James E. Stone, standing in front of a blackboard, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on April 1, 1958. A chalk drawing illustrating cellular mitosis is on the blackboard. Dr. James E. Stone was a professor of Education and head of the Extension Department in the 1950s. The Extension Department managed graduate training classes and workshops in schools throughout northwestern North Carolina.
