Description
This image shows four students playing water polo with a volleyball in the swimming pool in Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) on May 3, 1958. A handful of other students can be seen standing at the edge of the pool in the background. The Department of Health and Physical Education offered advanced and beginner swimming classes, as well as sponsoring the Flying Fish, an organization promoting recreational and intramural swim programs.
