Campus Scenes, circa 1920

Description

Image shows the western side of the future Appalachian Training School (1903-1925) campus. On the right is the first elementary school built in Boone (around 1912). It was located approximately where Boone Grade School, later known as Appalachian Elementary School, would be built in 1925. Locust Street is visible in the foreground, along with a pile of wood being used to build the house of Dr. Wright. Howard's Knob is in the background.
