This image shows marshals, forerunners of the student ambassadors, in the spring commencement ceremony on May 17, 1957, at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). Image includes Sybile Ray, Paul Hinshaw, Carolyn Wall, John Idol, Joyce Ollis, Ted Watson, Nancy Harris, Dickie Bolin, Joan Cotten, Jim Fite, Anna Boyce Winkler, Bill Passan, and Mary Ellen Goforth. Commencement was held at Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955, until 1968. This image appears in the 1958 Rhododendron (p. 133).
