Description

This image shows the control panel of a Sperry-UNIVAC 90-60 at the Computer Center at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1978. The UNIVAC Series 90/60 computer had 1000 KB of memory, four magnetic tape drives, 500 KB of storage space, a printer, and a card reader with 58 communication ports. It was used, along with the UNIVAC 70/46 Series to aid with computer science courses, administrative services, and was available for student and faculty use twenty-four hours a day. However, practical use was constrained due to the limited number of functions that could run at a single time.
