This image shows one of the commencement speakers standing behind a podium at the 1970 commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Other commencement speakers can be seen seated in the background to the left, including Dean of the Graduate School Cratis Williams, sitting second from the left. Commencement was held in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968. Fourth from the left is the Dr. Ben Horton, Dean of the College of Education.
