Commencement, 1979

This image shows two people, one in academic dress, standing in front of a collection of cardboard boxes filled with white envelopes. Envelopes have something to do with the commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1979. Commencement was held in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968. The man is Dr. Richard Rupp, Dean of the Graduate School and Professor of English.
