This image shows one of the commencement speakers at the commencement ceremony at Appalachian State University (1967-current) in May 1979. The principle speaker for the spring commencement ceremony was Mr. William C. Friday, President of the University of North Carolina. Commencement was held in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968.
