Commencement, 1974, James Holshouser and Bill Friday

This image shows two commencement speakers, North Carolina Governor James Holshouser (1973-1977) and University of North Carolina President Bill Friday (1956-1986), sitting on a stage during the 1974 commencement ceremony in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968, at Appalachian State University (1967-current). As a former governor, Holshouser is a member emeriti of the University of North Carolina Board of Governors.
