This image shows a speaker at the May 1981 commencement at Appalachian State University (1967-current). A man stands behind a podium bearing the Appalachian State seal. Wall in the background reads, "Furman," with a painting of the Furman mascot, a knight on a horse. Commencement was held in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968. Behind the podium is Dr. Frank Bruno, Dean of the College of Learning and Human Development.
