This image shows Dwight Quinn receiving a framed honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Appalachian State Chancellor Herbert Walter Wey (1969-1979) in 1978. The ceremony was part of the 1978 commencement in the Varsity Gymnasium, built 1968, at Appalachian State University (1969-current). Quinn was a legislator and chairman of the Appalachian State Board of Trustees. He helped the School obtain university status in 1967.
