Title

Commencement, 1968, refreshments

Description

This image shows an Appalachian State University (1967-current) official paper cup, including the University seal, the new ASU logo, and the town, Boone, NC, written on the bottom. Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) became a university less than a year earlier, with its old logo reading ASTC. Next to the cup is a pack of cigarettes with a matchbook resting on top, a program in the foreground, and an ashtray in the background. The picture was taken at one of the 1968 commencement ceremonies.
