Standing behind the podium is Mr. Ned Trivette, Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs. Seated on the right is Mrs. Maxine Trivette, wife of Mr. Ned Trivette. The seventy-fifth anniversary of Appalachian State University (1967-current) was celebrated in 1978, commemorating the anniversary of the University becoming a state-sponsored institution with a focus in teacher training in 1903, when Watauga Academy (1899-1903) became Appalachian Training School (1903-1925).
