Title

Sixtieth Anniversary Display, Eggers and Shook, 1963

Description

This image shows registar Herman Eggers and librarian Zeb Shook holding a register used for recording students' names at Appalachian Training School (1903-1929). The register was part of an exhibit at the D. D. Dougherty Library, built 1935, which included college memorabilia dating back to 1903, and was displayed as part of the sixtieth anniversary celebrations. The sixtieth anniversary of Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) was celebrated in 1963, commemorating the anniversary of the institution becoming a state-sponsored institution with a focus in teacher training in 1903, when Watauga Academy (1899-1903) became Appalachian Training School (1903-1925).
