This image shows three Archives employees, including Appalachian State Archivist Ruth Currie (1993-2001), pulling a box of materials off a bookshelf in the closed stacks at the University Archives at D. D. Dougherty Library, built 1935, at Appalachian State University (1967-current). On the left is Dr. Ruth Curie, University Archivist and Professor of History. In the middle is Dr. James Jackson, Dean of the College of Continuing Education and Professor of History. University Archives and Records is the official archival agency for Appalachian State University. It collects and preserves University records of historic or administrative value, as well as special donated collections. The office operates the records-management program mandated by North Carolina law.
