Reading Center, circa 1975, eye exams

This image shows a boy being given an eye test by three employees at the Reading Center at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Man standing on the left is Uberto Price, chairman of the Department of Reading Education. Books line the walls on bookshelves, with two posters and a globe above them. The Reading Center provided diagnostic and remedial services for Appalachian students and the region in general. It also served as a laboratory for students in the teacher preparation program.
