Description

In September 1972, Dr. Holt began work at the Health Services Department at Appalachian State University (1967-current). He was one of several physicians who served the small staff since the first physician was hired in 1967-68. The department started in 1949, and by 1968, Health Services was located in Hagaman Hall, built 1952, and included a full-time physician, six registered nurses. It offered x-rays, treatment minor injuries and illnesses, and inpatient care, including two wards of six beds each for males and females. In 1972, the Heath Services physician could expect to see over a hundred patients a day.
