This image shows Dr. Julian Yoder, chairman of the Department of Geography and Geology, speaking at the dedication of the William Leonard Eury Appalachian Collection at the first Belk Library, built 1968, on October 17, 1971, at Appalachian State University (1967-current). Seated in the background is Dr. Cratis Williams, Dean of the Graduate School. The W. L. Eury Appalachian Collection is a repository for materials related to the Southern uplands, with strengths in the social sciences, regional history, folklore, music, religion, genealogy, fiction, and African and Native Appalachia.
