Main Entrance Sign, photo 2

This image shows the Appalachian State University (1967-current) sign located at the main entrance of the university. Standing around the sign, from left to right, is a clown holding balloons, a man in a chicken suit, a jester lying beneath the sign, a woman dressed as a maid, and a clown sitting on top of the sign at the right. Clown appears to be sniffing a flower. The sign consists of three painted wooden boards suspended between two stone columns, and sits at the eastern entrance to campus off Blowing Rock Road (U.S. 321).
