Main Entrance Sign, photo 4

This image shows sign marking the main entrance to the Appalachian State University (1967-current). Sign includes the university seal, reading "Appalachian State University 1899, esse quam videri." The sign was erected in 1967. Part of B. B. Dougherty Administration Building, built 1968, can be seen on the left. The sign consists of three painted wooden boards suspended between two stone columns, and sits at the eastern entrance to campus off Blowing Rock Road (U.S. 321).
