This image shows Herbert Walter Wey with two students putting candy in a bag with Santa Claus at Appalachian State University (1967-). Boxes of candy are on the tables in front of them. Herbert Wey was the first chancellor of Appalachian State University, serving from 1969-1979. He was former head of the Department of Education, and former principal of Appalachian High School (1938-1965), otherwise known as the Demonstration High School.
