Description

This image shows a freshman swim class lined up at the edge of the pool at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in 1956. Swim classes were held in the Broome-Kirk Gymnasium, built 1955. Appalachian State offered courses for physical education majors in beginners and advanced swimming, but also offered recreational classes for freshmen and sophomore non-majors. This image appears in the 1957 Rhododendron (p. 45).
