Description

This image shows the Homecoming parade at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in 1956. Varsity cheerleaders can be seen performing in the middle of a street in Boone, NC, in front of a group of onlookers standing to the side. In the first row, from left to right, are Nancy Sides, Betsy Capel, Jo Ann Shoupe, and Lila Malone. The second row shows Joyce Ollis, Jim Sawyer, Ernest Taylor, and Bill Peters. Homecoming was an annual event at Appalachian State Teachers College, including plays, a parade, a dance, a football game, reunion activities, and the crowning of the Homecoming queen.
