This image shows several attendees of the Graduate Club summer picnic at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) in 1955. Seen in the image is Dr. Herbert Walter Wey, head of the Department of Education (left), and J. D. Rankin, interim president of Appalachian from June to September 1955 (right). In the middle is Barbara Stephenson, club secretary. The Graduate Students Club was formed of students pursuing graduate studies at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967). In 1954-1955, it had some approximately members. The Graduate Club formed in October 1954.
