Baseball Team, 1913

This image shows the Appalachian Training School (1903-1925) baseball team of 1913, seated outside on a hill. Early baseball games were played on the athletic field, located on the current location of Holmes Convention Center, built 2000. Students were not allowed to play during school hours, nor were allowed to compete against other teams off campus without faculty permission. This image was photographed from an image in a scrapbook in 1955.
