Description

This image shows a freshman orientation session in the auditorium of the second Adminstration Building, built 1924. Freshman week began Sept. 6, and included orientation, welcoming to the College, testing, instruction, religious programs, and campus fellowship. Welcoming addresses were made by William Howard Plemmons (1955-1969), president of Appalachian, Daniel Jay Whitener, dean of the college, Barbara Stephenson, dean of women, and faculty. Seen at the podium is Herman R. Eggers, registrar.
