Description

This image shows a view of the Banquet celebrating the installation of the new Beta Psi Chapter of the National Honorary Biological Society, Beta Beta Beta at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), held on February 12, 1954. Fifteen members of the Science Club are seated around a long table in the dining room of the Daniel Boone Hotel, built 1925. At the head of the table is speaker Dr. E. C. Cocke, regional vice-president from Wake Forest College. Senior Jean Hopkins, Science Club president and new Beta Psi historian, can be seen seated on the right. Science Club sponsor Dr. Arnold van Pelt can be seen seated on the left, third from the end. This image appears in the February 19, 1954 edition of "The Appalachian."
