Appalachian Elementary School, gymnastics, 1955

This image shows one of the gym activities at Appalachian Elementary School, also known as the Demonstration Elementary School, on May 5, 1955. A group of boys are seen standing on a mat while balancing two students in the air on a basketball court. Appalachian Elementary School was a joint venture between Appalachian State and Watauga County Schools, wherein Watauga students would be taught by Appalachian State faculty and students. It was housed by 1955 in Whitener Hall, built 1954, and ended in 1975.
