Student Council, 1954-55

Description

This image shows the Student Council for the years 1954-55. The Council consisted of representative students elected from each class, as well as officers from the entire student body. First row, from left to right, shows president Don Lineberger, corresponding secretary Jane Harrison, freshman representative Joyce Ollis, recording secretary Janet Sue Houck, senior representative Joanne Aldridge, and senior representative Ben Mast. Back row shows sophomore class president Grady Lewis, vice president Ned Trivette, treasurer Bill Benson, senior representative Jim Marks, sophomore representative Bill Honeycutt, and senior representative Bobby Snead. Not shown are Julie Ross, junior representative, and Johnny Christie, freshman representative. The Student Council met weekly with the Executive Council of Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), allowing a student voice in the College's decisions. It has been an official representation of the student body since 1940.
