Title

Business Education Conference, 1954, photo 1

Description

On May 1, 1954, Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) hosted a one-day business conference for business teachers in the auditorium at I. G. Greer Hall, built 1950. The chief speaker was Dr. Charles E. Zoubek, seen in the image speaking next to the blackboard, who spoke on the methods of teaching shorthand. Zoubek was the shorthand editor of Gregg Publishing Company in New York City and published author of many shorthand guides. This image shows a group of people attending the coffee hour that preceded the morning session of the conference. This photograph was exposed twice, leading to the superimposed image of the same group of people slightly above those in the actual photograph.
