High School Football Banquet, 1954, photo 1

This image shows a group of fathers of members of the Appalachian High School football team, the Blue Devils, in October 1954. They are the attendees of the annual football banquet, held each year in October. Banquet traditionally served coffee and doughnuts. The signs hanging around the men's necks relate to their son's football numbers. Appalachian High School (1938-1965), or Demonstration High School, operated in what is now known as Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1938.
