Playcrafters, "Home of the Brave," 1954, lighting

This image shows two of the Playcrafters, the dramatic club at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), working on the lighting for the January 1954 production of "Home of the Brave," a World War II drama about a Jewish soldier's experience in the South Pacific. Seen are Janet Houck and Scamp McMillan, technical director for the show. The production won the highest rating at the annual drama festival in Chapel Hill, NC, that year. This image appears in the 1954 Rhododendron (p. 86).
