This image shows two of the Playcrafters, the dramatic club at Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967), having makeup applied by Janet Houck (left) and Sue McMillan (right) in preparation for the January 1954 production of "Home of the Brave," a World War II drama about a Jewish soldier's experience in the South Pacific. Words on back of actor's costume read, "M C Millan, C.L., Lenoir, N.C., Scamp." The production won the highest rating at the annual drama festival in Chapel Hill, NC, that year.
