This image shows the 1953 Mountaineers football coaches on the Appalachian State Teachers College (1929-1967) football field, known as College Field, located south of the Administration Building, built 1924, approximately where Rankin Science Hall was later built in 1963. In the background Chapell Wilson Hall, built 1938, can be seen. From left to right, the image shows line coaches Preston Mull and John Kirk, head coach E. C. Duggins, end coach Francis Hoover, and backfield coach Bob Broome.
