Description

This image shows a young Dauphin Disco Dougherty. Dauphin Disco attended Wake Forest, and helped found Watauga Academy (1899-1903) with his brother Blanford Barnard Dougherty. He served as business manager and treasurer at Appalachian Training School (1903-1925) and Appalachian State Normal School (1925-1929), as well as serving on the Watauga County School Board of Education from 1925-1929. He married Ida Lille Bell Shull in 1896 and was father to Clara Bartlett, born 1898, Annie Lewis, born 1903, Daniel Disco, born 1906, David Barnard, born 1909, and Edwin Shull, born 1913. He died in 1929.
