Description

This image shows Annie Lewis Dougherty, daughter of Dauphin Disco and Lillie Shull Dougherty, around 1920-21. She graduated from Appalachian Training School in 1921, and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Carson-Newman College. She also attended Columbia University in New York City and Peabody College in Nashville, TN. She taught home economics in Watauga County and in other areas in North Carolina. She married Roy Albert Rufty, and died in 2001.
